Ideally, all sign makers would be ever vigilant when it comes to adjusting blade offset values as their blades gradually wear down. But if you're like most, you'd rather swim the English Channel than make the constant adjustments and test cuts that are required to overcome changes in offset value. With Summa cutters, you won't have to, even when using severely worn blades.

OPTiCUT™ — Better cutting for the life of your blades!

How OPTiCUT works:
Through advancements in our cutter firmware programming, all Summa D-Series cutters are now equipped with a unique overcut feature that properly aligns the blade prior cutting individual vector objects. This revolutionary new approach to drag-knife cutting provides optimal cut quality, even when significant changes to your blade offset occur from wear to the blade. Moreover, users of older Summa cutters can add this advanced new cutting feature simply by downloading new firmware and installing it through Summa Cutter Control software. Best of all, it's available free-of-charge to all Summa users via our website. Just log on to Summa.be and follow the link to the download page that's specific to your cutter model.

Why don't Tangential cutters come with OPTiCUT?
It simply isn't needed, because our Tangential cutting head mechanically lifts and turns the blade. This assures precise angled cuts and smooth vector curves without accounting for blade offset (tangential blades actually have no offset).
