The feeding and take-up devices can safely and reliably handle media weighing over 100kg (220lbs), which is fed with constant tension by the tension-bar and winding devices. To simplify printing on different media thicknesses, the jv5 includes automatic thickness detection, automatically adjusting the print-head height to compensate. Even when the thickness of the media is changed, printing can be made with a constant head gap if desired.

Waste of media and ink due to clogged nozzles is a thing of the past thanks to Mimaki's automatic nozzle drop-out detection. The printer monitors the ink output from the print-heads, automatically pausing printing and unclogging any nozzles which may become blocked. The JV5 also features automatic changing of double ink-cartridges, loading up to 1760cc per colour to provide uninterrupted printing without the concern of running out of ink.

Designed specifically to fully utilize the powerful features of Mimaki printers, the new generation of RasterLink RIP software gives you total control over what you are printing, for the highest quality output. 16-bit rendering eliminates the tone-jump often observed when using the older 8-bit system.

RasterLink is a user-friendly yet powerful package, allowing free positioning of images on the RIP. Versatile editing functions such as tilting, cropping, scaling and rotation are provided. Networks incorporating both Windows and Apple Macintosh technologies pose no problems to RasterLink, and the latest firmware updates and profile downloads are available through the web update function.
