An Update from Signmaster

It is amazing to think that another month has passed since we last spoke!  During the past few weeks and months, it sometimes feels like time stands still and the days are long and quite honestly starting to blur into one another. It is crazy to think that May has had two bank holidays, they just drifted past, with us almost having to remember ourselves and remind customers that they existed – they weren’t exactly the bank holidays we have come to know and love!

Sam & I wanted to write again as this week actually represents 3 years of us owning Signmaster and although celebrating is the last thing on our minds at the moment, as times are hard, there is equally a lot to be thankful for. We are both thankful to our staff. There have been some very testing times where we have needed the loyalty and strength of our staff to pull together and fight for us, our business and each other.  We are so very proud of them; they have surpassed our expectations and we will forever be grateful to them.

COVID-19 has without question been our biggest challenge yet, as I am sure you are all experiencing – April was particularly tough with sales down over 70% and us muddling through continuing to stay open and wondering whether that was the right thing to do. Thankfully May has been much better and we have managed to pull 7 staff back in off furlough as a result of the increased demand. Printer installs have managed to start up again, albeit being carried out differently than before, with safety our primary concern as well as customers being happy with their new machine. The product of the month has definitely been floor laminate, with customers printing, I presume, COVID-19 safety measures for businesses and shops alike and although supply is tough to find, we have managed it well and continue to have regular deliveries to keep our shelves stocked for you.

Sam & I will continue striving to make Signmaster better, this is a long-term project to which we are only at the very beginning. We are thrilled with what we have achieved in 3 years, with new premises, new branding, new website (with online order capacity) and new product lines it has been a lot, but running a business is an ever evolving project and we will continue to update, tweak and improve wherever we can. We are extremely thankful for your custom and want to thank you for everything you have given us over the last 3 years. Some of you have been with us from the very start, others have joined along the way and we are grateful for each and every one of you.
