Roland MG2 Features
Two Sizes to Suit Your Workflow
The MG2 is available in two sizes, giving you the option to choose the machine that best suits your applications, available production space and typical media widths.
MG2-300 – 30"
Supports media up to 762mm wide, with a maximum print and cut width of 736mm.
MG2-640 – 64"
Supports media up to 1,625mm wide, with a maximum print and cut width of 1,600mm.
Next-Generation Printhead
At the heart of the MG2 is a new 1.33" wide printhead with 300 NPI nozzle density.
Compared with the previous MG generation, Roland has increased the nozzle density to provide greater ink output, higher White ink density and faster production while maintaining detailed print quality. Variable droplet sizes help balance productivity with smooth, precise output across different applications.
Productive UV Printing
The MG2 has been developed to increase productivity across both everyday colour work and more specialist UV applications.
The new-generation printhead delivers increased ink output and faster print speeds, while the machine's integrated UV-LED lamps cure the ink during printing, helping jobs move efficiently through production.
Print & Cut in One Machine
Integrated contour cutting allows you to take jobs from print through to cutting without transferring them to a separate machine.
This makes the MG2 particularly suited to applications such as stickers, decals, labels, window graphics and other contour-cut work, helping simplify the production process from artwork through to finished graphic.
Up to 5-Layer Printing in a Single Pass
One of the standout features of the MG2 is its advanced single-pass multi-layer printing.
Using VersaWorks 7, jobs can be created with up to five layers, combining colour, White and Gloss for more specialist applications.
Rather than pulling the media back between layers, the MG2 can produce multiple layers in a single pass, helping improve productivity and registration accuracy. This opens up applications including Day & Night graphics, textured effects and decorative prints.
White & Gloss UV Effects
Selected MG2 configurations include White and Gloss inks, giving you more creative options beyond standard colour printing.
White can be used when printing onto transparent or coloured media, while Gloss can add clear details, highlights and tactile effects.
For businesses producing window graphics, labels, signage and display work, these specialist inks provide additional ways to add value to the finished product.
Orange & Red for More Colour Possibilities
Selected EUV5 configurations add Orange and Red alongside CMYK, extending the colour possibilities available from the MG2.
Different configurations allow you to choose between a setup focused on CMYK productivity or one designed around a broader mix of White, Gloss, Orange and Red capabilities.
New 1-Litre EUV5 Ink Pouches
The MG2 introduces new 1,000ml EUV5 ink pouches, providing more ink capacity and reducing the frequency of pouch changes during production.
For longer jobs and busy production environments, fewer ink changes mean less operator intervention and more time spent printing.
Simplified Automatic Maintenance
A newly developed automatic cloth wiper and dedicated cleaning liquid help keep the printhead clean and support stable print quality.
Roland specifies reduced manual maintenance compared with the previous MG generation, helping minimise routine operator intervention and keep the machine ready for production.
Take-Up Included as Standard
A media take-up system is included as standard with the MG2.
It's integrated with the Print & Cut workflow and can operate during cutting, helping keep longer output clean, organised and off the floor while supporting more automated production.
7" Touchscreen & Smarter Job Control
The 7" touchscreen gives operators straightforward access to machine controls and everyday production functions.
With the MG2 and a PC connected through Roland DG Connect, operators can also browse available VersaWorks jobs and start printing directly from the printer interface, reducing unnecessary steps during day-to-day production.
VersaWorks 7 & Roland DG Connect
The MG2 works with VersaWorks 7 and Roland DG Connect, providing an integrated workflow for print, cut and multi-layer UV production.
VersaWorks 7 supports the MG2's advanced layered printing capabilities alongside colour management and other production tools, while Roland DG Connect provides additional machine monitoring and workflow functionality.
